CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities seized heavy equipment worth P28 million allegedly used in illegal mining operations during a pre-dawn raid in Sitio Sendong, Barangay Tumpagon here on Monday. No one was arrested as the suspects, including some women, scampered under cover of darkness as personnel from Police Station 8, Mines and Geosciences Bureau-10 (MGB-10) and barangay officials swooped down on the area at around 2:20 a.m. The raid uncovered fresh excavation marks, shallow pits, and stockpiles of extracted mineral ores believed to contain gold.
