After a successful first season, the Equestrian Champions League (ECL), one of country’s leading showjumping events, is back to enthral crowds later this month.
Organised by the Equine Sports India Federation, in association with the Equestrian Federation of India, the three-day league will feature some of the best teams in the country.
The second edition will be staged at a venue near The Power House in Molapalayam here from August 28 to 30. Formally launched by Sundar Ramakrishnan, the district equestrian association president and managing trustee of the SNR Sons Charitable Trust, on Monday (August 17), the ECL will feature the Chennai Bulls, representing Tamil Nadu, Pegasus Sports (Kerala), Golconda Chargers (Telangana), Bengaluru Knights (Karnataka), Quantum Reigns (Goa) and Elite Equestrians (West Bengal).
The teams have brought together some of the country’s top-rated and accomplished equestrians, who will compete alongside their horses in the league. The top riders include Bharath Manoharan, Soorya, Balamurugan, Shresth, Balaji Vijayashankar, Hashini, Avik Bhatia, Niel Kendal, Kiran, Harsyith and Aradhana.
“ECL aims to provide a professional platform for leading riders to showcase their skills in showjumping and contribute to the growth of equestrian sport in India,” said A.S. Sakti Balaji, president, Equine Sports India Federation. The showjumping competition will be conducted in two categories — 100 cm, 110 cm, and 120 cm.
The performances will be evaluated by international federation approved judges from New Delhi and course designer from Sharjah. The league will offer a total prize purse of ₹30 lakh. Tickets are available at Ticketprix. For details, contact 89258 04911.
