Emergency crews tackle house fires, crashes overnight
Emergency services had a busy night and early morning responding to several fires and crashes.
In Māngere, emergency crews responded to a single vehicle crash at 3.22am on Tuesday where one person suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Middlemore Hospital.
Fire and Emergency tackled a house fire in Maketu in the Western Bay of Plenty after a mattress caught fire, about 4am.
In the South Island, a fire in a back yard close to houses caused two sheds to burn in South New Brighton in Christchurch.
Fire investigators will check the cause later on Tuesday. FENZ said the fire was put out with no damage to nearby houses.
In Woolston, a house fire was extinguished about 3am.
And in Allanton, near Dunedin, police and St John ambulance responded to a two-vehicle crash, and treated one patient for moderate injuries around 5am.
