A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three persons over the course of a year in Hassan district, and the Hassan police have arrested two persons and registered two cases.
Her mother learnt of the assault only when her daughter delivered a baby earlier this month.
In her statement to the police, the girl alleged that a distant relative had sexually assaulted her multiple times.
The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused, who has been remanded in judicial custody, Hassan Superintendent of Police Shubhanwita said.
In a separate complaint, the girl’s mother alleged that two other persons had sexually assaulted her daughter. The accused allegedly photographed the assault and circulated the images. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Of the two accused named, one has been arrested while the other is absconding. The case has been transferred to the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement.
