It has been established that the perpetrator was collaborating with the Russian Federal Security Service. Among the main targets the enemy had tasked him with reconnoitering were enterprises in the defense-industrial complex and logistics centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The SSU uncovered the enemy’s plan in advance and apprehended the suspect red-handed while he was conducting further reconnaissance near a strategic facility.

The detainee turned out to be a local resident who had previously served time for drug-related crimes.

Investigation data indicate that the man came to the attention of Russian intelligence through Telegram channels advertising “quick money.” The suspect needed funds to buy drugs.

Law enforcement officers documented how the suspect scouted the area under the guise of bicycle rides, recorded the perimeters of potential targets on his smartphone, and transmitted the videos—complete with geolocation data—to his Russian handler.

A search of the suspect’s person revealed a phone containing evidence of his activities on behalf of the enemy.

The man has been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—treason under martial law.

The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As reported by Ukrinform, two Russian agents were detained in the Chernihiv region who were preparing to blow up a local railroad track to derail a freight locomotive and disrupt transportation logistics in northern Ukraine.
