The Progress Rocket and Space Center is one of the key enterprises in Russia's rocket and space industry and is involved in the production of Soyuz-family launch vehicles. Its products are used, among other things, to place spacecraft into orbit and deploy Russian satellite communications constellations serving the interests of the Russian military.
Strikes on facilities of this significance significantly reduce the military and technological capabilities of the Russian aggressor, the General Staff said.
On August 15, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said that a facility in Samara producing medium-class launch vehicles and automated spacecraft was on fire following a strike.
