The Ministry of Minority Affairs informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) that more than 6.17 lakh Waqf properties have been successfully validated and approved on the UMEED Central Portal-2025 as part of the government’s ongoing initiative to digitise and streamline Waqf property records.

Responding to an unstarred question raised by All India Trinamool Congress MP Sajda Ahmed, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that 7,99,978 Waqf properties had been initiated for uploading to the UMEED portal as of July 17, 2026.

According to the Ministry, 6,17,102 properties have been validated and approved, while 91,623 properties remain at various stages of the uploading process. Another 91,253 properties were rejected during the verification process. State and Union Territory-wise details of the registration status are available on the UMEED portal.

Complete lifecycle

The Minister said the UMEED Central Portal-2025 was a statutory portal developed under the provisions of the UMEED Act, 1995. The platform was designed to manage the complete lifecycle of Waqf properties, including registration, verification, survey by the Collector, mutation, annual account audits, and related administrative processes.

According to government records from the WAMSI portal, the previous portal to manage Waqf records, India has a total of 8.72 lakh Waqf establishments spread across 30 States/Union Territories, covering more than 38 lakh acres of land.

Addressing concerns over pending registrations, the government said Waqf Boards were initially given six months to upload details of existing Waqf properties, with an additional extension of up to six months available through the concerned Waqf Tribunals or courts. To facilitate completion of the process, the Ministry has reopened the UMEED Central Portal for those State and Union Territory Waqf Boards that have received such extensions.
