Qi2 magnetic wireless charging is finally making some headway in the Android world, with Motorola recently having launched its first smartphone with built-in magnets. Now, a leaked “Moto Snap” wireless charger has surfaced, hopefully hinting at more Qi2 in Motorola’s lineup going forward.

Rewinding, the first Motorola device with built-in Qi2 magnets is the Motorola Edge 70 Max, a device that arrived seemingly out of nowhere with the rarely-seen functionality. The phone supports Qi2 25W charging speeds and has the magnets inside of the actual device, not offloaded to a case like on Samsung’s Galaxy phones. It joined a pretty exclusive club that, outside of this one device, is basically just Google’s Pixel 10 and now Pixel 11 series.

But it’s still an outlier in Motorola’s lineup, though it seems like that might be changing.

Evan Blass took to Twitter/X – the real account, since the old one was hijacked – with images of a magnetic wireless charging apparently called “Moto Snap.” Pixel branding similarities aside, the Motorola logo-clad charger looks to have a braided cable, a purple accent color, and a metal chassis around the back of the charger as well as around the USB-C plug.

While this could simply be an official charger for the Motorola Edge 70 Max, it could easily be a sign that Motorola is gearing up to bring Qi2 magnetic wireless charging to more devices in its lineup going forward. I, for one, hope that ends up being the case, but with most of Moto’s lineup being in the budget camp and without wireless charging anyway, it’s hard to know for sure how much impact this change could bring.
