Nintendo has now confirmed the Switch 2 price rise details for the U.K., following similar announcements for the U.S., Canada and mainland Europe.
Beginning on September 1, Nintendo Switch 2 consoles will rise in price from £395.99 to £419.99, an increase of £24 (roughly $33), the Mario maker revealed today.
This is a slightly smaller increase than the equivalent price rise in the U.S., where Switch 2 will rise by $50 to $499.99.
In Canada, Switch 2 will cost $50 more from September 1, up to $679.99. Mainland Europe does not escape the price rises either. In the Euro zone, Nintendo's console will soon cost €499.99, up by €30. Nintendo's Switch 2 price rise has already taken effect in Japan, meanwhile.
For all regions outside of Japan, you still have time to buy a Switch 2 at its launch price before it becomes more expensive — although not long. Is it worth jumping in now? Well, yes — even before The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches later in 2026, there's already a host of great Switch 2 exclusives on offer, such as Donkey Kong Bananza, Pokémon Pokopia, and the just-released Splatoon Raiders. You'll want a Switch 2 next year, too, when Pokémon Winds and Waves roll around.
That said, those on the lookout for a snazzier console design might be tempted by the leaked images of a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pro Controller that popped up online earlier this month. These will almost certainly not arrive before that September 1 price rise — and perhaps deliberately so, to give hardware sales a shot in the arm post-price rise.
Nintendo first confirmed it would raise Switch 2 prices back in May, ensuring that customers had several months of warning before the cost increases took effect.
At the time, the company apologized for the need to raise prices and blamed the changes on "market conditions" and stated it had been forced to consider "the global business outlook." Nintendo is, of course, just the latest hardware manufacturer to increase costs, with PlayStation, Xbox and Valve all upping prices in the face of global uncertainty around shipping, tariffs, and ballooning component prices.
Upcoming Switch 2 game launches include Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave on September 17, Switch Sports Resort on October 22, and the new Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake before the end of this year. 2027 titles already announced include Xenoblade Genesis, plus Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. That's on top of the huge Nintendo Switch game catalog, of course, which is backwards compatible.
