HISAR: Gangster Vinod Panu alias Kana was shot dead in the parking area outside the Hisar court premises on Thursday, while two others were injured in the incident.
Around 14 rounds were reportedly fired during the shooting.
Hisar SP Siddharth Jain said police received information about the incident at around 2.50pm. Vinod, who had a court appearance scheduled for the day, was shot in the parking area.
âOne person has been apprehended, and a weapon has been recovered from him,â Jain said.
According to the SP, the deceased had around 32 criminal cases registered against him, including charges related to murder.
Police are investigating where the accused came from and whether others were involved in the shooting. Further details will be shared as the probe progresses, Jain said.
Jain said the court security team remained vigilant and that personnel deployed at the premises apprehended the accused at the spot.
He, however, said any negligence or shortcomings found during the investigation would be addressed.
Forensic teams have examined the scene and collected samples. Ballistic tests are also being conducted, police said.
Five to six police teams have been formed to investigate different aspects of the case, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible involvement of others.
The investigation in this reagrd is currently underway.
