The Andhra Pradesh government is expediting the laying of four additional roads to strengthen the connectivity to Amaravati from different parts of the region, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said on Thursday.
Reviewing the progress of the E13, E15, E1 and E3 roads, Mr. Narayana directed officials to ensure that the projects were completed within the scheduled timeframe. APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayarama Raju, Additional Commissioner K. Karthik, Guntur Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma and senior engineers attended the review meeting.
Officials briefed the Minister on the status of construction, pending permissions, land-related issues and railway clearances. They said most of the required railway and other approvals were nearing completion.
The E15 road will provide direct connectivity between Mangalagiri and Amaravati, facilitating smoother movement of traffic into the capital region. The E13 road, connecting Amaravati with National Highway-16 through AIIMS, is also being prioritised.
Mr. Narayana directed officials to expedite the third-phase E3 works, including the proposed elevated corridor between Steel Bridge and Manipal Hospital. The E1 road, being developed parallel to the Seed Access Road along the Karakatta up to Prakasam Barrage, is expected to provide an alternative route from Vijayawada towards Amaravati.
Mr. Narayana said that the objective was to provide multiple entry routes into Amaravati, instead of depending on a single road. He directed the departments to coordinate and remove bottlenecks, while asking the Guntur Collector to ensure that construction works faced no avoidable hurdles.
