A woman has been charged with murder after a motorcyclist found dead at a crash scene had injuries inconsistent with a road accident.
Police on Friday confirmed a 53-year-old Cheltenham woman had been charged over the shooting death of a man in Yarram - about 220 kilometres south-east of Melbourne - on January 16, 2024.
At the time, officers had responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on Yarram-Morwell Road, but said some of the man’s injuries were inconsistent with occurring in a crash. The man died at the scene.
Several months after the man’s death, a 39-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were arrested, but released. A 50-year-old woman was also arrested and interviewed at the time of the incident, but released without charge.
The Cheltenham woman and the victim were known to each other, police said.
The woman is due to face court on Friday afternoon.
