Paramount Pictures on Friday, July 24, unveiled the trailer for Ebenezer, the upcoming film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel A Christmas Carol. The film marks Johnny Depp’s first major Hollywood role since his 2022 trial against Amber Heard.

Directed by Ti West (Pearl, Maxxxine) from a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern, the upcoming film features Depp as the titular Christmas grouch, in what is billed as a dark reimagination of Dickens’ novel. The trailer shows Scrooge haunted by Christmas spirits before he becomes an ill-tempered miser who rejects Christmas and spews hate on those who celebrate the festival.

The cast of the film also features Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, with Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen featuring in special appearances.

Now, on November 13, when Ebenezer is released in theatres, all eyes will be on Depp to see how the ‘Master of Misfits’ has taken on his first major role since the infamous 2022 trial against his ex-wife and actor Amber Heard. This also marks Depp’s first major role since 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Notably, the actor will soon be seen in the action film Day Drinker by Marc Webb.
