A 14-year-old boy has lost two toes after his foot got trapped in a wild boar snare allegedly set up in a private property at Karette, near Kilimanoor. According to the Kilimanoor police, the injured student is Abhinav, son of Biju, a resident of Plavode in Karette. He is a Class 9 student at the Devaswom Board High School, Karette, and lives with his grandparents.
The incident occurred on Thursday when Abhivan went out to play with his friends. While walking near the neighbouring property, he accidentally stepped into an iron snare that had allegedly been installed to trap wild boars. The trap caused severe injuries, resulting in the boy losing two toes on his left foot.
Abhinav was initially rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he received first aid. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The Kilimanoor police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances under which the wild boar snare was installed on the private property and whether its installation violated legal provisions.
