Malaysian police receive report against Sanusi over race-linked campaign remarks

The Kedah chief minister says Malaysian Chinese and Indians have other homelands whereas the Malays have only Malaysia

Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the report was lodged by a 40-year-old man at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station on Friday.

“The complainant was unhappy with a news report published by an online portal regarding a speech by the Kedah chief minister,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

“The case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code for making statements conducive to public mischief.”

DCP Alzafny said the investigation was also being carried out under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the improper use of network facilities or services.

“Chinese have China, Indians have India, Malays only have Tanah Melayu,” Sanusi said at a rally on Thursday, according to news portal Malaysiakini, using the term for “Malay homeland”.
