Adam Ramsay-Peaty breaks down in tears after Commonwealth bronze as he admits family feud ‘has taken its toll’
Adam Ramsay-Peaty broke down in tears after being forced to settle for a bronze medal in the men’s 100 metres breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 31-year-old was pipped by Australia’s Sam Williamson and 18-year-old Filip Nowacki of Jersey in a race he had dominated for eight years before shockingly finishing out of the medals in Birmingham four years ago.
Since the 2022 Games, Ramsay-Peaty has taken time out to protect his mental health and also endured a high-profile family schism following his marriage to Holly Ramsay, daughter of the celebrity chef Gordon, in December.
In an interview after his defeat, Adam acknowledged the family feud and said the fallout “has taken its toll”.
“It's hard because I know how hard I've worked,' he cried. 'I know the s*** I've been through, which is no fault of my own. It does take a toll.”
