The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the DSC examination and the teacher recruitment process, which was taken up in a controversial manner.

Drawing parallels with the resignation tendered by the Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, the party’s East Rayalaseema MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy demanded the resignation of the State Education Minister Nara Lokesh, citing moral responsibility for what he called a ‘fiasco’.

At a media conference held at the party office in Nellore on Sunday, he alleged that the system was compromised at every level and that the ruling dispensation deliberately tweaked the rules, right from the stage of preparing question papers till the announcement of results, to suit its ‘political interests’.

“A computer operator appointed on outsourcing basis at State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) secured the top rank in social studies and sixth rank in Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) exam. Isn’t this indicative of paper leak? Seventeen erroneous questions were included in the paper, and six extra marks were arbitrarily awarded to the chosen candidates under the guise of normalisation. This has hurt the chances of genuine candidates,” he claimed.

Sports quota

The MLC, who is also a teacher by profession, alleged that the sports quota in the DSC had been thoroughly misused, rendering injustice to qualified national level sportspersons while allowing the incompetent to get through citing technicalities.

“The certificates produced by the selected candidates showed they had played multiple sports, received endorsements from honorary chairpersons of sports bodies, and some had secured unauthorised signatures, all of which are against the rule,” he claimed

While demanding a CBI probe into the issue, Mr. Chandrasekhar Reddy also asked why the government had to take a defensive stance if it had nothing to hide. He also warned that the party would take to the streets seeking justice for the unemployed if the government failed to respond to its demands.
