Wanted robbery suspect nabbed in Marinduque manhunt

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines — A 29-year-old man wanted for robbery was arrested by police in a manhunt operation in Santa Cruz, Marinduque, on Sunday, July 26.

The Marinduque Police Provincial Office (PPO) said the suspect was arrested by members of the Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Intelligence Team-Marinduque, Regional Intelligence Unit 4B, and the Marinduque Maritime Police Station.

Police said the arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Emmanuel Racho Recalde of the Regional Trial Court Branch 38 in Boac, Marinduque.

The suspect is facing a robbery charge under Article 299(2) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 10951. The court recommended bail of P72,000 for his temporary release.

Authorities withheld the suspect’s identity pending further documentation.

The arrested man is now in the custody of the Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.

Marinduque Provincial Director Col. Cornelio Tadena Jr. said the provincial police will continue to intensify manhunt operations to ensure that wanted persons are arrested and brought before the courts to answer the charges against them. /cb
