Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said a successful security deal with Israel could pave the way for comprehensive peace without compromising Syria’s right to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Syria was seeking to reach such an agreement with Israel with the participation of several countries, he said in an interview with Al Jazeera.
Sharaa added that Syria had taken precautions against possible threats from armed factions along its border with Iraq.
The Syrian leader also ruled out military intervention in Lebanon, adding that Damascus is focusing on supporting the country to overcome its current crisis instead.
