House to prioritize passage of Ledac measures

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives will prioritize the passage of the remaining priority measures of the Marcos administration when the 20th Congress reconvenes on Monday for its second regular session, Majority Leader Sandro Marcos said on Sunday.

Marcos said the chamber had approved 26 of the 52 priority bills endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac) and aims to sustain that pace in its second legislative year.

“We will ensure that these proposed laws help the President and, above all, our people, so that their lives may be eased, even if only modestly,” he said in Filipino.

Among the remaining Ledac measures, the proposed Cybersecurity Act is on the House calendar, while a bill barring relatives of government officials from securing state contracts awaits a committee report.

Amendments to the Cooperative Code and a bill declaring a National Thanksgiving Day every fourth Thursday of November are ready for final approval.

Nine other priority bills are pending before the appropriations committee, including proposals to improve transparency in government spending, modernize the Bureau of Immigration and the Civil Registration System, and amend the Magna Carta for small businesses.
