Marcos to deliver fifth SONA today

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27.

It will be held in the afternoon at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

Marcos' previous SONAs started at 4 p.m. and ran for approximately two hours.

This will be the first Marcos address to be presided over by House Speaker Bojie Dy and Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian.

This SONA also comes a year after he announced the ban on unlawful Philippine offshore gaming operators and amid the prosecution and investigation of individuals involved in the flood control scandal.

Vice President Sara Duterte, who was Marcos' running mate in 2022, will not attend the SONA, as she is expected to return to the country on July 31.

With his fifth SONA, Marcos has two addresses left before the end of his term in 2028.
