Veteran sports journalist Jaswinder Sidhu passed away in a road accident late on Sunday (July 26, 2026) night. In a career spanning decades, Sidhu, always Jassi to his friends, worked primarily with Amar Ujala before branching out as an independent analyst.

A regular presence in most press-boxes across India and overseas, Sidhu always kept the travelling press-corps in good humour. He cracked one-liners, was helpful and forged a kinship with many sports writers, including those hailing from Pakistan’s Punjab and Sindh.

The Press Club of India condoled Sidhu’s demise and through a post on X, stated: “His dedication to sports journalism, unwavering professionalism and insightful reporting earned him immense respect across the media fraternity.”
