The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh over the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process and sought a CBI inquiry monitored by a sitting High Court judge.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, YSRCP State spokesperson Gudapureddy Veerashekar Reddy alleged that the recruitment process was marred by several irregularities, including the alleged leakage of the question paper, changes to the merit list, deletion of candidate data, issues relating to 1:1 certificate verification, appointments under the Sports Quota and implementation of reservations.

He questioned the circumstances under which SCERT outsourcing employee Naveen, who was initially shown as the State topper, was removed from the revised merit list. He also sought an explanation for the blocking of Naveen’s DSC ID after certificate verification and his subsequent removal from service.

Mr. Veerashekar Reddy alleged that several candidates who underwent 1:1 certificate verification despite being declared eligible had not been issued appointment orders. He called for a comprehensive inquiry into more than 400 appointments made under the Sports Quota, alleging irregularities in the selection process and questioning changes to the eligibility norms, under which candidates were reportedly exempted from the qualifying examination before the provision was reversed after the recruitment process. Allegations of financial transactions and denial of opportunities to genuine national-level sportspersons also warranted an independent inquiry, he said.

The YSRCP leader also accused the coalition government of undermining public education by discontinuing Nadu-Nedu infrastructure works, allowing the quality of the Gorumudda mid-day meal programme to deteriorate, and rolling back initiatives such as English-medium instruction, the CBSE and IB curricula, bilingual textbooks and distribution of tablets to students.

Claiming that enrolment in government schools had declined by 5.56 lakh over the past two years, Mr. Veerashekar Reddy said the developments, coupled with the alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment process, had eroded public confidence in the education system.

Demanding accountability, he urged Mr. Lokesh to apologise to the people, resign as Education Minister and order a CBI inquiry into the Mega DSC recruitment process under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge.
