The wait between Severance’s first two seasons was long, and season 3 has demanded a lot of patience too, but Apple TV just teased a noteworthy update on the show’s progress.

Severance season 3 is officially filming now, with late 2027 premiere likely

We’re now about 18 months post-Severance season 2’s premiere. And while season 3 isn’t progressing as fast as we might hope, it did just hit a big milestone.

Per an update from Ben Stiller on X, reposted by Apple TV‘s account, Severance season 3 has just started filming.

The low-res production photo shared by Stiller seems to show Mark S. and Helly R. running through the corridors of Lumon—a throwback to season 2’s final moments.

Season 2 ended with the shocking decision by Mark to stay with Helly, rebelling against his outie’s planned reunion with Gemma and kicking off what’s sure to be a fascinating run of events in season 3.

Three years passed between seasons 1 and 2 of Severance. A variety of factors were responsible, including rewrites, reshoots, and Hollywood strikes.

If production on season 3 lasts 6-9 months, and another half-year is added for post-production, there’s a decent chance we’ll see Severance return ** in fall 2027**. That would bring it in just a few months under the three-year mark.

When do you expect Severance season 3 to premiere? Let us know in the comments.
