WASHINGTON, July 28. /TASS/. US Congressman Jamie Raskin (Democrat from Maryland) has initiated an investigation into International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino, sending him a letter demanding that he disclose details of his relationship with the White House and US President Donald Trump, according to a copy of the document obtained by TASS.

"This letter serves as a notice for all communications to be preserved between FIFA personnel and individuals affiliated with the Trump administration or its inaugural committee - including disappearing messages exchanged on ephemeral communication platforms, such as Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp (a social media site banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta corporation classified as extremist by the Russian authorities), X, and Truth Social," Raskin’s letter said.

The congressman asked Infantino to testify in person to assist with the investigation and also demanded documents regarding any gifts, payments, or benefits provided to Trump or individuals associated with him, records on ticket sales for FIFA events, information on contacts with US officials, and a visitor log for the federation’s offices in Trump Tower.

Earlier, the City AM news outlet reported that the FairSquare nonprofit organization had filed a complaint with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) over Infantino’s actions. According to a source, under pressure from Trump, Infantino violated the oath he took in 2020 to act independently of commercial and political interests.
