MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Tuesday warned of possible “increased chances” of phreatic eruptions over Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon due to an increase in seismic activity. Phivolcs noted the rise in seismic activity, where 109 volcanic earthquakes were recorded over the volcano since 12 a.m. on Tuesday, adding that almost all of these were considered volcano-tectonic quakes associated with rock fracturing at a shallow depth of the volcano’s edifice.
