The Mysuru district administration has ruled out considering recommendation letters for vehicle entry to Chamundi Hills during Ashada Fridays, stating that no passes will be issued based on such requests, to ensure the smooth movement of devotees.

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy said that except for vehicles covered under the prescribed security protocol, no other vehicles will be permitted to enter Chamundi Hills during Ashada Fridays. The restrictions have been imposed in view of the heavy influx of devotees visiting the Chamundeshwari Temple from across Karnataka and neighbouring States.

Clarifying the restrictions, the Deputy Commissioner, in a press release, said entry permissions for private vehicles have been withdrawn and that any recommendation letters seeking vehicle entry will not be entertained. “No vehicle passes will be issued on the basis of such recommendations,” he added.

The release said special traffic management and security arrangements have been put in place to facilitate safe, peaceful and hassle-free darshan while ensuring devotees are provided with the necessary basic amenities. The safety and convenience of pilgrims remains the administration’s top priority, it added.

The district administration has appealed to the public and devotees to cooperate in the strict implementation of the restrictions to ensure orderly traffic management and smooth darshan of Goddess Chamundeshwari during Ashada Fridays.
