LPA, easterlies to drench parts of PH on July 29

MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and scattered rains are expected across parts of the country on Wednesday, July 29, due to the combined effects of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, the state weather bureau said.

Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said in a 5 a.m. advisory that the LPA could bring rain showers over Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and portions of Mimaropa.

According to Dominguez, the LPA, located over the coastal waters of Rapu-Rapu, Albay, as of 3 a.m., is not expected to develop into a typhoon while inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility or as it crosses the country.

“We do not expect it (LPA) to intensify into a full-blown typhoon while within the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, it is expected to cross land, bringing rain to Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and parts of Mimaropa,” Dominguez said in Filipino.

“Meanwhile, our second weather system is the easterlies, warm or humid winds coming from the Pacific Ocean. This will bring rain to Cagayan and Isabela,” she added.

The easterlies may also affect the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

The rest of the country may also experience gloomy skies and localized thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.
