West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) launched several helpline numbers to prevent corruption in public life.

People can call toll-free helpline numbers to register complaints on four different subjects: cut money-related complaints, allegations of syndicates extorting money, illegal toll booths, and bootlegging.

“A special control room will be operational from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” Mr. Adhikari said, adding that citizens can register genuine grievances across four toll-free numbers, and prompt action will be taken.

The State government has operationalised dedicated helpline numbers for reporting cut money (155445), extortion (155334), illegal toll booths (155337) and bootlegging (155339). “Citizens can register genuine grievances across four toll-free numbers, and prompt action will be taken…. Sharing false information will attract legal action under applicable laws,” the Chief Minister said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to end the culture of cut money and syndicate tax if the party came to power in West Bengal.

State Chief Secretary Manoj Agrawal said that all calls to the toll-free number will be recorded and there will be a mechanism to retrieve the records if necessary. In the initial stage, artificial intelligence will be used to categorize the complaints.

In the next stage, police officers will investigate each complaint and action will be taken accordingly. At regular intervals, a report will be sent to the Chief Minister on how many complaints have been registered and what action has been taken.

Emphasising on the upgrade of police infrastructure in West Bengal, Chief Minister promised to fill the current 47,000 vacancies in the police.

Mr. Adhikari said that the target of his administration was to increase the number of police personnel per lakh population to 200 like in Uttar Pradesh. Currently, the number of police personnel in the State per lakh population stands at 106.

The Chief Minister also felicitated students who felicitated have done well in the NEET examination and promised to upgrade the infrastructure of public and private medical colleges in the State.

“This NEET exam is a national-level examination, where success comes through overcoming very tough challenges. My dear future doctors have showcased their hidden talent and potential brilliantly in this competition. This success is not their alone; the people of West Bengal are happy and overjoyed by your success,” he said.
