LOOK: LTO-7 deploys female enforcers

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Female traffic enforcers have been deployed along major roads in Cebu to help enforce traffic regulations and improve road safety.

The team is headed by lawyer Geralgin Balatucan, who leads the Regional Law Enforcement Service (RLES) of the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7).

In an advisory posted on its social media page Wednesday morning, LTO-7 said Balatucan is the first woman to be appointed chief of the RLES.

Balatucan led her first major enforcement operation along V. Rama Avenue in Cebu City, according to the advisory.

“Under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Wendel Dinglasan, LTO Region 7 continues to uphold women empowerment and gender equality by creating opportunities for women to lead and excel in a field traditionally dominated by men,” the agency said.

Good work know no gender

The agency added that the appointment of Atty. Balatucan, along with the deployment of more female enforcers, “demonstrates that courage, competence, and integrity—not gender—define effective law enforcement.”

“This is more than an enforcement operation; it is a testament to the growing role of women in public service and law enforcement. LTO Region 7 remains committed to fostering an organization where leadership is earned through merit, professionalism, and dedication to serving the Filipino people,” Dinglasan said.

LTO said the appointment of Balatucan and the deployment of female enforcers reaffirm the agency’s “commitment to strengthening road safety while promoting an inclusive workplace where every individual, regardless of gender, is empowered to lead, serve, and make a meaningful impact.”
