Jakub Dłubacz, a spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław, reported this in a statement to Ukrinform on Wednesday.

“The court fully took into account the prosecution’s arguments and imposed a pretrial detention of three months on both suspects,” Dłubacz said.

According to him, the defendants’ defense team will have one week to appeal this decision.

Dłubacz noted that the investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are gathering evidence in the case.

He also reported that a third suspect in the attack on the Ukrainians has not yet been detained.

As reported by Ukrinform, two men suspected of brutally beating Ukrainian citizens were detained in Wrocław. One of them attempted to leave the city but was detained by members of the police’s counterterrorism unit.

According to Polish media reports, the detainees are 27 and 45 years old. One of them has a criminal record, while the other is associated with soccer hooligans. Both participate in mixed martial arts tournaments.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has once again called on President Karol Nawrocki to publicly respond to the wave of ethnically motivated violence, particularly the attacks on Ukrainian citizens. The head of government emphasized that silence in this situation damages the state’s reputation.
