The next MCU-inspired mode for Marvel Rivals will be available starting July 30, NetEase Games has confirmed. This marks the second phase of the hero shooter's big Path to Doomsday event meant to lead into the release of Avengers: Doomsday this December.
Path to Doomsday — Avengers: Age of Ultron brings a new PvE mode to Marvel Rivals themed after the 2015 film. In the latest trailer for the event, we see Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, and Hulk fighting off hordes of Ultron robots in a new Avengers Tower map. Details about how the mode will be structured, its objectives, and its rewards haven't been shared by NetEase Games, though with the release just around the corner, players will have answers soon. The official description teases that the event will also have story cinematics and dialogue.
The latest phase for Path to Doomsday also brings two Age of Ultron-themed skins. Both Ultron and Scarlet Witch will get cosmetics inspired by their looks in the film. Spider-Man and Hulk will also get new skins on July 31. These skins, however, are to coincide with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and not the Path to Doomsday — Avengers: Age of Ultron event.
Phase one of Path to Doomsday was themed after the first Avengers movie and ran from the end of April to the end of May earlier this year. If the second phase follows a similar schedule, then it will be available for about a month until the end of August. The third and fourth phases — themed to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, respectively — will be added to Marvel Rivals sometime before Doomsday is released in theaters. NetEase Games has not shared any details on what phases three and four of the Path to Doomsday event will look like.
