Apple Maps recently added a new ‘Suggested Places’ feature in iOS 26.5, but it’s getting even better in iOS 27. Here’s how.
iOS 27 improves Apple Maps’ new ‘Suggested Places’ feature by adding a lot more recommendations
When iOS 26.5 launched in May, it came with a pair of Apple Maps-focused changes, including ‘Suggested Places.’ The feature offers recommendations inside Maps’ search screen of places you should check out.
Suggested Places bases its recommendations on what’s trending as well as your recent searches.
That latter detail is especially key. It means that if you’re planning a vacation, for example, Maps will recognize that and offer suggestions that match the location you’re researching.
I found Suggested Places a great addition to iOS 26.5, and had just one complaint: you could only ever get two recommendations at a time.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Apple to fix that.
iOS 27’s Maps app still shows you two Suggested Places in the search screen, just like before. But now, you can ** scroll horizontally to find even more recommendations**.
In my testing with the iOS 27 beta, I’ve seen up to 10 recommended places available at a time.
This one improvement feels like a no-brainer to me. It makes Suggested Places even more useful, and comes with zero drawbacks.
Now when I’m looking for a new place to try, whether locally or for future travels elsewhere, the Maps search screen is quickly becoming a go-to.
In addition to expanding the Suggested Places feature, iOS 27 includes several other Apple Maps improvements you can read about here.
Do you ever use the Suggested Places feature in Apple Maps, and will iOS 27 change that? Let us know in the comments.
