Fans of NBC programming will have another way to save money on a Peacock subscription next year thanks to a new package announced this week.

On Monday, NBCUniversal announced that its Peacock streaming service will be available as a free add-on for anyone who subscribes to YouTube Premium, which is the video site's ad-free offering.

The package will be available beginning in early 2027, according to the statement.

As of this report, YouTube Premium costs $15.99 per month. Once the deal kicks in, interested customers can cancel their current Peacock subscriptions and add the streaming service to their YouTube Premium accounts.

Peacock currently costs $8.99 per month for its basic package and $10.99 per month for its ad-free premium offering.

The add-on is part of a broader deal struck between YouTube and NBCUniversal, which will see some sports events carried by NBC air live on YouTube and YouTube TV.

Matt Strauss, the chairman of NBCUniversal, told CNBC that the deal is aimed at strengthening Peacock's "long-term growth."

“Peacock will now be one of the largest domestic streamers. It’s going to significantly expand our reach," he said.

The deal was viewed favorably by investors; on Monday, Comcast—parent company of NBCUniversal—closed the market up 2 percent.

The deal will also make NBC programming available on YouTube, meaning viewers won't have to leave their feeds and log into NBC's Peacock app if they want to catch an episode of Community or Poker Face.

Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh said during an earnings call last week that he wanted to buck the "walled garden" approach to programming other media companies have been using, and instead “look for opportunities to partner, bundle and exhibit other people’s [intellectual property]” across its theme parks and its streaming and broadcast platforms.

Peacock has been popular with fans of NBC's roster of comedies—especially re-watchers of shows like The Office, Parks and Rec, and 30 Rock—but it also carries a selection of films, including the popular 2026 horror film Obsession, which currently sits at the top of its trending films list.

For those who are unwilling to wait until the start of the year—or who aren't as interested in ad-free YouTube—Peacock is also available through a package with Apple TV starting at $14.99 per month, with a $19.99 ad-free premium offering as of this report.
