While announcing its first-ever loss in its mobile division, Samsung this week teased its Android XR glasses while also confirming the upcoming launches of Galaxy Tab S12 and Galaxy S26 FE later this year.

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, ran into its first-ever loss for its mobile division in Q2 2026. If that doesn’t make clear the impacts of RAMageddon, nothing will.

In its earnings call, Samsung offered a bit more detail around how it is responding to the market crisis and, in doing some, confirmed some upcoming releases.

That started with a mention of the upcoming Galaxy S26 FE, a device Samsung hopes will “drive volume market share growth” alongside the rest of the Galaxy S26 series.

We will maintain S26 momentum through sustained marketing and the launch of a new S26 FE, while expanding upselling in the mid- to high-end segments by bringing our core AI experiences to the A Series…

Also mentioned were the company’s upcoming Android XR glasses, referred to as “Intelligent eyewear.” Samsung showed off these glasses, built in collaboration with Google, at its Unpacked event last week, but exact release timing is still unknown. Samsung only says they’ll launch “later this year.”

Across the broader Galaxy ecosystem, we will focus on increasing the premium product mix while bringing a new form factor experience for the AI era with the launch of Intelligent eyewear later this year.

Finally, Samsung also confirms that its Galaxy Tab S12 series is incoming in the second half of 2026. This wasn’t a guarantee. Samsung has fallen into an 18-month release cycle with tablets and, with Tab S11 having debuted in September 2025, it was reasonable to assume Tab S12 wouldn’t debut until early 2027. But, apparently, the new tablets will launch “in the second half.”

Right now, the massive demand for AI servers is creating a shortage and driving up prices for mobile memory. We already saw this in Q2 as memory prices rose quarter-on-quarter, leading to pressure on our profitability, and we expect that soft burden to continue through the second half of the year. To manage this, we are focused on maintaining strong sales momentum of the S26 series while ensuring the successful launch of new premium products coming out in the second half, such as the new foldable series, Tab S12, and Watch Ultra 2.
