A lone pedestrian leaps through a downpour at the corner of Edward and Adelaide streets in Brisbane’s CBD, an intersection usually heaving with pedestrian traffic.
Another day, the same roads are captured in the inner city’s early morning glow. The roads are mostly empty, and the streets inhabit a foreign quality.
Other views are more familiar. The annual Riverfire firework display erupting over the Story Bridge. The afterglow of a Brisbane sunset pitched against the cityscape.
Beyond the inner-city, Brisbane’s suburban backbone is brought to life; a young girl enjoying a sprinkler and a trampoline on a summer day, neighbours conversing on the front steps of a tin-roofed house.
These are the winning images captured in this year’s Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards.
The 2026 theme – “Everyday Brisbane” – invited anyone who lives, works or studies in the city to share their view of Brisbane life.
“The best thing about Brisbane isn’t just our skyline or river. It’s the lifestyle we enjoy every day,” Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said.
“These images capture the moments that make people fall in love with our city, from sunrise on the river to afternoons in our suburbs.”
The awards attracted more than 2200 entries, with 10 winners crowned in the main categories, and 23 People’s Choice finalists now competing for the public vote.
