MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that its anti-corruption reforms in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which it oversees, have yielded positive results. In a statement on Friday, the department said its new measures “[eliminated] anomalous budget insertions, [curbed] procurement irregularities and [intensified] anti-corruption efforts.” “Among the department’s transparency initiatives is the livestreaming of public bidding, which enabled the DILG to procure 224 vehicles at approximately ₱100 million below the projected cost, demonstrating how open and accountable processes can deliver greater value for public funds,” it further explained.
