The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) have booked a contractor for allegedly celebrating his birthday on the middle of a road in west Bengaluru’s Vijayanagar and obstructing traffic.

The accused has been identified as Raghavendra, who allegedly parked his car on West of Chord Road near the Shivahalli Flyover on July 15, blocking traffic. He then celebrated his birthday on the road, burst crackers, recorded the celebration, and uploaded the video on social media, drawing the attention of citizens.

A social media user flagged the video to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, seeking action against Raghavendra.

Based on the complaint, the BTP registered a case against him under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with acts of negligence causing danger, obstruction, or injury on a public way or public line of navigation.

A police officer told The Hindu that the accused was summoned to the police station and warned that stricter action would be taken if he repeated such an act.
