The Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) Deputy Secretary H. Amara Rangeswara Rao on Friday reviewed the implementation of various programmes and services under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) at a meeting held at the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) office in Eluru.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Amara Rangeswara Rao said the meeting was organised to assess the implementation of legal services, identify challenges in extending them to the public and gather suggestions to improve their reach and effectiveness. He said the views of panel advocates, mediators, para-legal volunteers, practising lawyers, victims and members of the public would be compiled and submitted to NALSA.

The discussions focused on the functioning of legal services clinics, compensation for acid attack survivors, measures to combat human trafficking and the provision of child-friendly legal services. Feedback was also sought on the implementation of various schemes aimed at ensuring access to justice for vulnerable sections of society.

Mr. Amara Rangeswara Rao said the recommendations emerging from the review would help strengthen the legal aid system and improve service delivery.

District Legal Services Authority Secretary N. Srilakshmi, Eluru Bar Association president Kone Seetharam, panel lawyers, mediators, para-legal volunteers and representatives of voluntary organisations attended the meeting.

The review was conducted in accordance with NALSA’s directions to evaluate the effectiveness of legal aid services at the State and district levels and obtain feedback from stakeholders.
