Two snowboarders have been rescued after becoming lost for about six hours in the Treble Cone back country during heavy snowfall, strong winds and near-zero visibility.

Police have warned it should serve as a timely reminder of the dangers of venturing beyond ski field boundaries, especially during adverse weather conditions.
