EJ Obiena strikes gold again at Germany pole vault meet
MANILA, Philippines —EJ Obiena stayed on a roll after capturing his sixth gold medal of the year.
The Filipino Olympic pole vaulter ruled the Halberstadter Hohenflug in Germany on Saturday (Philippine time).

Obiena cleared 5.76 meters to beat Seifeldin Abdelsalam of Qatar and Cole Walsh of the United States, who finished with silver (5.66m) and bronze (5.56m), respectively.
The fit-again Obiena, who struggled from an injury last year, ruled the International Springer-Meeting Cottbus in Germany to start the year, followed by another one in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China.
He also won the ISTAF Indoor Berlin in Germany, the Czesław Cybulski Memorial in Poland, and the Raiffeisen Austrian Open in Austria.
Obiena came from his season record of 5.85m in the Meeting Madrid in Spain, where he settled for silver.
