SEOUL, April 27 (Yonhap) -- Innospace Co., a South Korean space startup, said Monday it has partnered with RSAT Space Inc. of Canada to explore cooperation in satellite launch services in the North American market.
Under their memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed recently, the two companies will jointly pursue opportunities in the region, including government and commercial space programs, while developing new business models that integrate launch services with advanced space system capabilities.
By combining their capabilities, the companies plan to expand their presence across government, commercial and defense space sectors, Innospace said.
Innospace, which is developing its Hanbit launch vehicle, aims to strengthen its cost-competitive and responsive launch services, while RSAT Space brings expertise in space system integration, mission support and infrastructure development.
The MOU follows Innospace's letter of intent signed in March with Maritime Launch Services to secure access to a launch site foothold in Canada and establish a base for recurring satellite launches in the region.
"This partnership represents a key milestone in advancing our launch service business in Canada and the broader North American market, while establishing an operational foundation to reliably support regional launch demand," said Innospace Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kim Soo-jong.
Gurvinder Chohan, CEO of RSAT Space, said, "We look forward to working with Innospace to explore opportunities that support the growth of the space ecosystem and enable mission readiness for a broad range of stakeholders."
