A teenage girl has died following a 'medical episode' at Kendal Calling festival.

The 17-year-old passed away in the early hours of this morning after suffering the medical episode at around 2.15AM.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and Cumbria Police said they are looking into the circumstances.

Officers have asked for anyone in the Calling Out tent area and the Big Wheel at the time of the episode to get in contact.

The force's spokesperson said: 'Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare.'

The teenager's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
