Man allegedly robs Auckland restaurant armed with machete

Police say another investigation is underway on Auckland's North Shore after an aggravated robbery last night.

Waitematā CIB's acting detective inspector Megan Goldie said a man entered a restaurant in Hinemoa Street, Birkenhead, at about 8.45pm on Sunday with what appeared to be a machete.

Goldie said the man threatened staff and demanded money.

He left before police arrived.

She said inquiries are underway to identify and find the person.
