SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said Monday it has clinched a 268 billion-won (US$187.7 million) contract to build two oil tankers.

In a regulatory filing, Samsung Heavy said it signed the deal with an undisclosed European client and plans to deliver the vessels by August 2029.

With the latest order, the shipbuilder has won contracts worth US$5.8 billion so far this year to build 34 commercial vessels, already surpassing its annual target of $5.7 billion.

Including two floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production, storage and offloading facilities, Samsung Heavy's cumulative orders for the year have reached $10.2 billion, accounting for 73 percent of its overall annual target.
