With the start of the Android 17 QPR2 Beta today, Google confirmed that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will reach End of Life before that December release.

The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launched in October 2021 and were originally slated to get three years of Android updates followed by two years of security patches. Google in 2024 boosted the devices to five full years of updates.

With regard to QPR2 Beta, Google said today that “Pixel 6 and 6Pro users will not be getting this OTA since the device will reach End of Life and Android 17 QPR1 beta series will be the last for these devices.”

Android 17 QPR1 should roll out to existing Pixel devices in early September. It will presumably debut on the Pixel 11 series in late August.
