Prince Louis appeared to be in his element at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday - as the young royal delighted fans with his lively antics in the stands.

The eight-year-old joined his parents, Prince William and Kate, as well as his siblings, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince George, 13, to watch a packed sporting schedule involving the world's best competitors in Glasgow.

But royal fans could not help but notice that the youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, who has been on his best behaviour in recent months, appeared particularly animated during the sporting event.

In a rare public appearance, Louis grinned and proudly wore a Welsh cycling hat as he watched the sporting action unfold at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome - while the younger also appeared animated as he enjoyed the netball semi-finals.

The heartwarming images of Louis playfully trying on the hat, which read 'Beicio Cymru - or Welsh Cycling', saw dozens of royal fans take to social media to praise the 'adorable' prince for his lighthearted nature.

'Prince Louis is the cutest and funniest and happy young lad. I just love his personality,' wrote one X user. Another added: 'Adorable and always there to make us laugh at his playful antics.'

'There's the Prince Louis we love,' shared another. 'He's such a little character.'

In April, during the Royal Family's Easter Sunday Service at Windsor's St George's Chapel, little Louis appeared more grown up than ever before - with some believing it was a marked departure from his typically mischievous antics.

Dressed in a double breasted suit, the prince stayed close to his parents and bashfully waved for photos with his sister Charlotte.

It left royal fans in awe over how 'grown up' Louis was - with one supporter taking to social media to write: 'The HRH's of Wales are raising their children to be respectful and well mannered to all that they meet.

'Young HRH Prince Louis is learning very well.'

'Such well behaved children,' another gushed.

A third said Louis looked 'so grown up' as he and his sister waved to crowds after the service.

In 2022, then four years old, he stole the show at the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee; during an appearance that cemented his status as the internet's favourite royal.

The toddler was spotted grumpily covering his ears during a flyover at Trooping the Colour, and was scolded by his older sister Princess Charlotte, then seven, for waving too much in a carriage procession.

The little prince's moods ranged wildly from annoyance and despair to excitement as Louis was spotted chatting animatedly with his great-grandmother.

Royal fans on social media found his ever-changing moods extremely relatable, with images of the prince pulling hilarious faces circulating online for months.

A couple of years later, during the Trooping the Colour in 2024, Charlotte, then nine, once again appeared to take her role as the older sister very seriously as she told Louis off, not once, but twice.

She ordered her little brother to stand up straight on the Buckingham Palace balcony, as the family gathered to watch the flypast at the annual event.

Earlier in the day, the prince was once again told off by his sister as she ordered him to 'stop' his dancing, whilst standing at a window in the Horse Guards building, so they could watch King Charles inspecting the troops outside.

Elsewhere, just a few months ago, Louis couldn't contain his glee when a royal fan gave the seven-year-old a massive tub of Lindor chocolates after the Christmas church service at Sandringham.

A video taken outside St Mary Magdalene Church on the King's Norfolk estate showed the young royal grab the box out of his father's hands after the well-wisher informed Prince William 'those are for Louis'.

However, on Saturday, Louis showcased his lighthearted and charismatic self as he stepped out for the Commonwealth Games with his parents and two siblings.

All three young royals dressed smartly for the occasion – with George and Louis stepping out in button-down Ralph Lauren linen shirts with rolled up sleeves to create an effortless look that strongly resembled their father.

Both prince's designer shirts were paired with chino trousers and a belt, while stylish George wore a pair of Tod's Gomma suede loafers, which retail for £550.

On his wrist, George proudly wore his £569.99 Garmin D2 Air X15 watch, which he recently showcased in his birthday video to celebrate him becoming a teenager.

Charlotte, meanwhile, embraced the summer weather with a £30 chiffon belted short-sleeve dress from American fashion brand Guess, alongside a pair of ivory Pretty Ballerinas Nicole flats.

Elsewhere, Kate, 44, stepped out for the sporting event in a black and white striped jumper from La Ligne, alongside a white pleated ankle-length skirt.

Adding a pop of colour to the overall look, the Princess of Wales showcased a new stylish green double-breasted cashmere blazer from Ralph Lauren - with the navy version of the jacket retailing for a staggering £2,950.

Kate and William – who are known by their Scottish titles, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, when visiting the country – and their children also met Team Wales athletes and their families on Saturday.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis revealed their favourite sports as they sat and chatted with the sportsmen and women on what was the final stop of their busy day at the Commonwealth Games.

And when Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones asked George if he wanted to see his parents team up on a tandem in the velodrome, the 13-year-old quickly replied 'no,' clearly embarrassed by the prospect.

The family of five received a warm welcome from the Welsh athletes and their families as they arrived at Wales House in the centre of Glasgow.

William and Catherine led their children over to speak to identical twin gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper who won bronze medals within an hour of each other earlier in the week.

They chatted with the athletes and their proud parents for over five minutes, asking about their achievements and how they prepared for the Games.

Catherine asked: 'And what are you doing? As Charlotte was asking, are you doing a lot of stretching and conditioning?'

They nodded and said they do a mix of both to ensure they're strong and flexible.

The future Queen then turned to her youngest and said: 'Louis, you're perfecting your handstand at the moment.'
