Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana, along with his Cabinet colleagues Anagani Satya Prasad (Revenue) and S. Savitha (BC Welfare), on Tuesday inspected the construction works in Amaravati, reviewing the progress of the iconic towers, Ministers’ bungalows, and the residential quarters for MLAs and MLCs.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Satya Prasad said he had participated in the farmers’ padayatra for Amaravati and alleged that the YSRCP caused extensive damage to the capital project during its five-year tenure. He expressed satisfaction that the MLA quarters had been completed in two years of the NDA government assuming office and said the residential complexes for MLAs and MLCs would be formally handed over to the General Administration Department by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on August 13. The construction of other key buildings was progressing rapidly under Mr. Narayana's supervision.

Ms. Savitha said nearly 33,000 acres had been voluntarily pooled by the farmers for Amaravati through the land pooling scheme. She alleged that the previous government had reversed its stand on the capital and accused the YSRCP of creating confusion through diversionary politics. She said the government remained committed to developing Amaravati into a world-class capital for the benefit of the future generations.
