The Kallambalam police have registered a case on a complaint alleging that a 108 ambulance was intercepted, and a male nurse was verbally abused and assaulted while returning from a patient transfer.

According to the police, the nurse, Shanavas, who hails from Kallambalam, alleged that he and the ambulance driver were attacked by a man who arrived on a motorcycle. The incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Monday as the ambulance was returning to Varkala after dropping off a patient at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital.

The complainant alleged that the accused stopped the ambulance on the road, verbally abused both the driver and the male nurse, attempted to assault them, and also tried to snatch a mobile phone during the altercation. Visuals purportedly showing the confrontation have also surfaced on social media and are being examined as part of the probe.

The police stated that a detailed probe is under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
