PRA officials harassed by Cayetano over illegal projects – Lacson
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) officials faced harassment when they inspected the allegedly illegally reclaimed Laguna lakeshore land in Taguig linked to Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Panfilo Lacson revealed yesterday.
In a statement posted on X, Lacson said he met with PRA officials Monday night and learned that they were verbally harassed by Cayetano during the November 2025 plenary deliberations on the Office of the President’s proposed budget, under which the PRA operates.
“Our Taguig City case study has opened a ‘cauldron of worms’ after my meeting with PRA officials last night, from ghost slope protection projects to illegally reclaimed tracts of land covering Laguna Lake,” he said.
“The same officials likewise disclosed physical intimidation when they conducted on site inspection along C6 in the Lakeshore area where the illegal reclamation activities are taking place,” he added, noting that it solidified and confirmed his earlier claims of irregularities involving the reclamation project.
Following the meeting, he said he would coordinate with the PRA, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Public Works and Highways “not only to jail the crooks behind these grossly anomalous and patently illegal activities but also forfeit the already reclaimed Lakeshore areas in favor of the national government.”
“There is no turning back!” added Lacson.
‘Senator-judge troll’
Cayetano, however, rejected the allegations during a Facebook Live broadcast before the afternoon session of the impeachment trial on Tuesday, insisting there were no illegal reclamation projects.
“It is not true what the gossipmongers are spreading that there is a private reclamation project there. All of that belongs to the government and was developed into a series of parks. There are different parks for everyone to enjoy free of charge. I am inviting you because there is one senator-judge troll,” Cayetano said.
He said the lakeshore developments, most of which were undertaken by the national government, were necessary to protect the area from syndicates and informal settlers.
Cayetano said Lacson should be investigated for using his position to target his critics.
